I ran Corporate IT at MED-EL and grew it from around 60 people to more than 100 across 14 countries. Today I am Head of Product, Data & AI at SQUER, where I lead the commercial side and hold the P&L. Through SQUER I also spent a year as interim Head of Engineering at Österreichische Post.
I judge my work by what happens when I leave the room. At MED-EL there was a stretch when I could be away for weeks and nothing escalated, because the people running each function had real decision rights and used them. That is still the job. The difference now is that some of the team are AI agents.

A CIO, Head of IT or engineering seat that is empty, new or mid-transition, while the budget, the audits and the managers still need someone accountable this quarter.
Building or reshaping a technology organization
Leadership layers, decision rights and who owns what across countries and sites. The org chart is rarely the problem; what each level may decide usually is.
AI that has to reach production
A pilot works and the rollout stalls: no owner, no data classification, no path through security review. Most relevant in regulated settings; my advisory clients include banks, insurers and payment companies.
IT strategy that survives the budget cycle
Target architecture, sourcing and security posture, with an investment case someone can defend in front of a board.
